At every station new passengers climb aboard, and the Inspector hands you one true clue about the killer's name. Cross out everyone it rules out. Then comes the part that makes this book different from every other puzzle book on the shelf.
THE CARRY BOX SYSTEM
At the end of each station you write your surviving suspects into the Carry Box, a printed box at the foot of the chapter. Those names stay on the train with you. At the next stop two things happen at once. New passengers board, and they have to clear every clue so far, not just the newest one. At the same time the names already in your box are tested again against the new clue, and anyone who now fails is struck out. Your list is never restarted and never forgotten. It rides with you, station by station, from thirty-five thousand names down to two.
